A Rowlands pharmacy in Rhos-on-sea, North Wales, has reopened weeks after being 'considerably damaged' by fire.

Local mayor of Colwyn Bay Councillor Ricki Owen cut the blue ribbon to open the new-look premises yesterday, at a special event to celebrate the pharmacy's commitment to serving the local community.

After a fire broke out at the pharmacy on the evening of 21 August, the pharmacy team had to relocate temporarily in a portacabin outside the damaged premises.

At the time, a spokesperson at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board asked for patience while the team reordered and restocked the pharmacy, as 'everything was lost in the fire', including the pharmacy's ordering system.

And a spokesperson at Phoenix Medical Supplies Limited, which owns Rowlands Pharmacy, said the fire had caused ‘considerable damage’ but that all colleagues and residents of the flats above were safe.

Yesterday Dawn Jones, Rowlands Area Manager thanked staff, customers, members of the local healthcare community and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board for their support throughout the refurbishment of the pharmacy.

'Operating out of temporary accommodation involved a brilliant team effort from everyone and it is with enormous thanks to everyone we were able to continue serving the healthcare needs of our customers,' she said.
