A ‘large quantity’ of drugs were stolen from a pharmacy in Roslin, Midlothian late on Thursday night, according to police reports.
Roslin Pharmacy in Midlothian was broken into at around 11.30pm on Thursday (18 August).
The thieves took a large quantity of medication, including diazepam, the strong opioid painkiller codeine and gabapentin successor prcegablin, police said.
Risks
Police Scotland warned of the risk these medications can pose if abused.
‘The medication can cause serious harm to a person's health. It should only be taken if prescribed specifically for you by a medical professional,’ said Inspector Bryan Jones.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour in the area, or has any information on the whereabouts of the stolen medication, to get in touch.
Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 4340 August 17, or report this anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
More drugs stolen
The news comes just months after a substantial quantity of drugs were stolen from another Scottish pharmacy, in North Lanarkshire, which also included several opioid drugs.
Thefts have also hit pharmacies in England. More than 30 boxes of drugs, including morphine, were stolen from a pharmacy in Oldham in February.
